Bluebird nestling pictures…day seven!

nestlings-day-7-6-17.jpgwings-close-up-6-17.jpg

I’ve got a great look inside the nestbox for you today! You can really see the sheaths and feather tips clearly now (see close-up picture of one of the wings). They look like little spikes. The wings, spine, and head are really increasing in coverage now. More and more, they are looking like bluebirds! And boy are they getting loud when the mama or dad flies in with a mealworm…”Give it to me! Give it to me!” Day twelve is the cutoff for looks inside the nestbox (so the bluebird nestlings won’t fledge…fly away…too early), so we’ll have just a few more days of pictures before the waiting for them to emerge begins!

kiddo-and-turtle-6-17.jpgAnd what crawled out from under our deck yesterday morning? A turtle! My son loves any wildlife, so we immediately adopted him for the week as our temporary pet. These are some turtle-6-17.jpgpictures from when we cleaned out his aquarium this morning and let the turtle (Robert or Speedy is his name…my son kind of goes back and forth on it) roam some in the grass again. This isn’t a turtle watching blog, but I’m sure Eastern bluebirds love turtles, too. And I figure you don’t mind a cute picture like this one thrown in! See you tomorrow! Don’t forget to leave your comments by clicking on the green button at the top of the page. I’ll answer questions or chat with you about your birds!  Dave

This one’s a Grandma specialty! Can’t go wrong with a cute grandson picture!

Dear Dave,

What neat pictures! That is one cute little guy–your son–he has such a sweet smile, too! His grandmas are very blessed ladies!

Thanks so much for the pictures and the words of wisdom about the bluebirds. We are trailing you by about 5 days as our 3 or 4 baby blues hatched while we were gone over the weekend. They are really something as are their parents! They are working all the time to feed them.

We appreciate your leading the way!

“We enjoyed your bluebird blog, Daddy! I really enjoyed looking at it, and thank you for putting me and the turtle in your blog!”

Hi Hon! It was fun to catch up on your blog and share it with our son today! He really raved about all your pictures, even before he saw the ones of him and Robert. You’re doing a great job, and the pictures are amazing! Keep up the good work! Love, Me

Diane, how exciting! Bluebirds are such a neat gift! Please let me know how they do, and send a picture. Thanks for your great encouragement!!!

Nicole, you are terrific! You and turtle-man are such an awesome support team. I love you!
